The Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming is one of my favorite power places I have ever visited. This sacred Native Tower pushed up out of the ground around 50 to 60 million years ago. Magma rose through the crust, intruding into the existing sedimentary rock, forming the nearly vertical cliffs which encircle the Tower itself.. It is composed of yellow fine-grained sandstone which is resistant to weathering.
