I found these Hamsa Celestial Swans at The Golden Triangle store in Chicago. The ancient symbolism of Hamsa/Hong-Sau: “Hamsa” is traditionally translated as “swan,” which in ancient Indian scriptures is the vehicle of Brahma, the Supreme Spirit. The flight of the Hamsa thus symbolizes the escape from the cycle of samsara (reincarnation). The swan also lives on water but its feathers are not wetted by it, the swan learns to live in this material world, while being untouched by all its illusions, temptations, and traps. With “Hamsa” we strengthen the untouched observer inside. They are handcrafted to show their unsurpassed grace and beauty with their long necks, outspread wings and gorgeous flowing tails. It is believed that these auspicious mythical creatures carry angels upon their backs and lift prayers to the heavens.
